DESCRIPTION: Fresh fruit simmered in wine


  • fresh fruit - pitted cherries, sliced strawberries, blueberries, etc.
  • red wine
  • cinnamon sticks & cloves in a cheesecloth sack
  • sugar to taste
In a large pot, cover the fruit with the wine. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to a low simmer. Add the spices. Continue to simmer until fruit just becomes slightly tender. Remove spices & serve warm, or else refrigerate overnight, then remove spices and serve cold. Sprinkle sugar on top to sweeten to taste.
