These illustrations of medieval Devils, Demons, Witches, & Monsters are from authentic period sources. There are no 20th century-inspired fantasy images in this collection, nor any modern art with a medieval theme - these are the true visions our medieval ancestors had of the preternatural, the supernatural, and the unwordly.

Subject: A sign of appreciation from Italy | Date: Mon, 19 Feb 2001

I would like to express my full appreciation to all the pages you've made about the Middle Ages. I think this is a precious resource for the net. You'll find 2 cliparts very scary that I've found in a book: Agostino Calmet, Dissertazioni sopra le apparizioni de' spiriti e sopra i vampiri, o i redivivi d'Ungheria e di Moldavia, 1755. The illustrations surely come from the Middle Ages.

Enjoy, Gio
